Beaver

Penn
State
University Park, Pennsylvania
Since
1960, Beaver Stadium has been the home field
for the Nittany Lions. The seating capacity
at that time was 46,284. An addition in 1991
brought that total to 93,967. The latest expansion
project, completed in 2002, brought Beaver
Stadium capacity to 103,500, the second largest
college stadium in the country.
The
project included the addition of luxury skyboxes
and
VIP suites on the east sideline; the addition
of 6,000 new general seats and 4,000 new club
seats in a south endzone expansion; an All-Sports
Museum and club lounge in the south endzone;
renovation of the home team locker room and
media room; and improvements to spectator amenities
and circulation. Also included are televisions
throughout the concourse; two video replay
scoreboards;
improvements to meet ADA standards and a new
facade.
The
stadium also features the first escalators
in Centre County and a one ton copper plate
weathervane
likeness of the Nittany Lion. The weathervane
is 10 feet in length, three feet in width and
nine feet in height and is located 110 feet
above the southwest corner of the stadium.
